MEAN GIRLS A HIT!

MEAN GIRLS A HIT!

Over 400 people attended Mean Girls High School Version including two sold out performances at The Community Center of La Cañada Flintridge (CCLCF) from June 28 – 30th.
Co-produced by CCLCF and CS Productions, the show featured cast and crew from ten different local high schools including La Canada, Crescenta Valley and California School of The Arts. Teens also filled positions as Music Director, Choreographer, Costume Design and Lighting Design. The production was made possible by a grant from the City of La Cañada Flintridge for teen programming, so there was no cost to the participants.
Based on the hit 2004 film by Tina Fey, Mean Girls is the story of Cady Heron a teen who grew up on an African savanna. She finds that nothing prepared her for the wild and vicious ways of her strange new home: suburban Illinois. How will this naïve newbie rise to the top of the popularity pecking order? By taking on The Plastics, a trio of lionized frenemies led by the ruthless Regina George. But, when Cady devises a plan to end Regina’s reign, she learns the hard way that you can’t cross a Queen Bee without getting stung!
The show, directed by Caren Saiet, starred Lucy Winzenried as Cady, Anna Pacino as Regina, Rocio Castro as Gretchen, Olivia Ben-Ari as Karen, Mia Mercolino as Janis, Estrella Estrada as Damian and Micah Ruan as Aaron. Theatre professionals Morgan Rusler, Gina Farina and Joey Frevola served as our Tech Coordinator, Production Coordinator, and Sound Designer respectively. The production also gave an opportunity for students to participate in a stagecraft apprentice program building sets and props, in partnership with the LCF Tournament of Roses Association.
Special thanks to Melissa Greenwood (LCUSD), Ernest Koeppen (LCFTRA), Juli James (FSHA), Justin Eick (LC High Theatre Dept.), all of our cast & crew, and everyone who came to see our first musical theatre production!
