Auditions for Mean Girls High School Version

Auditions for Mean Girls High School Version

April 4, 2024 – The Community Center of La Cañada Flintridge (CCLCF) and CS Productions will be holding auditions for Mean Girls High School Version on April 27 and April 28 at the Community Center. Callbacks will be Sunday May 5 by invitation only.  Performances are June 28 – 30. Singer/dancers ages 14 – 18 from any school are encouraged to audition.

Based on the hit 2004 film, Mean Girls is the story of Cady Heron, a teenage girl who finds herself in a suburban Illinois public high school after years of being home-schooled on the African savanna. Confronted with the animalistic social order of American teenagers, Cady devises a plan to topple the school’s queen bee Regina George and her cohorts: The Plastics. The show features a book by Tina Fey (based on her screenplay), music by Jeff Richmond and lyrics by Nell Benjamin. Unlike most high school versions, Mean Girls High School Version includes the full, unedited script of the show.

Director Caren Saiet of CS Productions is excited to bring the production to the Crescenta-Cañada community. “Mean Girls explores high school social hierarchies, the quest for identity, and the impactful nature of rumors, while championing themes of friendship, integrity, and self-acceptance,” she said. “The high school version is an ideal choice to be performed by our extremely talented local high school students!”

“It’s been a goal to offer a theatre program to our community and we are looking forward to our first collaboration with CS Productions,” said CCLCF Executive Director Betsy Ferguson.

The production is made possible by a grant from the City of La Cañada Flintridge for teen programming, which means there is no cost for the teens to participate.
