We are a nonprofit community studio in operation for over 50 years at the Community Center of La Canada Flintridge in the beautiful San Gabriel Valley. Our mission in the Ceramics Department is to create a creative, fun, and collaborative environment where students can learn and experiment with clay. Our students receive comprehensive instruction along with independent work time to build their knowledge of the ceramic process and techniques. There is no experience necessary, so join us to get your hands dirty and have some fun!
Our Ceramic Art program runs year-round with classes offered for Adults and Youth. Class curriculum typically includes hand-building, slip work, wheel throwing, and glazing processes. Firing and glazing of pieces produced in the studio are included in the class fee. Classes are between six and eight weeks long and fill up fast, so early registration is highly recommended.
Our studio has 12 pottery wheels, plenty of table space for hand building, and a wide array of Cone 10 glazes. We have slab rollers, extruders, a spray booth, three kilns for bisque firing and two gas kilns for Cone 10 reduction glaze firing. Clay and tools can be purchased at the Studio or online.

Adult Ceramics Classes are offered Monday – Saturday in the morning, afternoon, or evening throughout the week. For each Adult class registration, we offer an extra weekly lab time for students to work independently on their projects. Classes include demonstrations of various techniques by our experienced instructors including hand-building, slip work, wheel throwing, and glazing processes. Although our Adult classes are for all levels of ceramicists, we recommend taking our Intro to Ceramics class if you haven’t worked with clay before (or if it’s been a while).
