Fall Enrichment Camp Counselor

CCLCF is seeking knowledgeable, reliable, patient, and enthusiastic staff to assist students with their studies, in addition to bringing the camp aspect into the day.

DESCRIPTION This is a part-time, at-will position. We are looking for leaders who have a passion for working with and educating kids. This position provides support with ZOOM learning sessions, including but not limited to homework, tutoring, enrichment activities, games, crafts, and supervision.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or the equivalent
  • Must be of 18 years of age
  • Background Check
  • Possession of a valid First Aid & CPR Certificate is required within 30 days of hire.
  • Passionate about working with kids.
  • Volunteer or paid work experience with children is desirable.

Youth Ceramics Instructor

The Community Center of La Canada Flintridge is seeking Ceramics Instructor to teach Youth Ceramics classes in our studio. We are seeking someone with a Ceramic Art background who has experience working with children from 4-18 years old in a creative environment.

Qualifications:

  • Training and experience in ceramics and art.
  • Experience working with children in a creative environment.
  • Ability to teach ceramics to participants of all ages and abilities.
  • Ability to create programming specific to youth from ages 4-18.
  • Basic knowledge of Cone 10 Glazing, kiln loading and firing (both gas and electric).

 

General Responsibilities:

  • Under direct supervision of the Executive and Program Directors perform a variety of duties instructing ceramics for adults, teens, and kids.
  • Create stimulating classes and special demonstrations in a fun, safe and relaxed environment.
  • Maintain program records including accurate class and workshop attendance.
  • Take proper care of kilns and other equipment.
  • Teach and monitor the safe use of equipment.
  • Keep work areas neat; clean up and disinfect work surfaces after class.
  • Responsible for proper storage of ceramic pieces and equipment.
  • Conduct safe classes in accordance with the CCLCF Employee Handbook and Health and Safety guidelines.
  • Work as a team with the other members of the staff.
  • Communicate regularly with Studio Coordinators and/or other instructors about class needs, daily progress, Kiln loading, supply/clay inventories and other issues.
  • Attends periodic staff meetings.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Work Environment:

  • Some bending, lifting and other physical activity may be required when working in the studio or teaching ceramics. This position may include frequent lifting of up to 10 lbs. and occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs.
